History and development of ice cream
Ice cream was first born in Rome, Italy, based on command and will of the Emperor Nero. At that time, Emperor Nero wanted a cold dessert, so that food made with the composition of a mixture of snow, nectar, fruit syrup, and honey. After that ice cream evolved to the whole world, where Marco Polo, the explorer of the 13th century, regarded as a person who has been credited with spreading the ice cream to the entire world. When explore Asia, Marco Polo introduced the chunks of ice from a frozen water as mixing drinks. Since then, Asian people use it to hundreds of years later.
As for the United States, the popularity of ice cream began to rise since 1812, when ice cream is served as dessert menu at important meetings conducted at the White House. However, ice cream at the time not shaped like ice cream today, but like ice smoothed.
Changes in ice cream raw materials which were originally from the chunk of ice, occurred in the 19th century. While many Italian immigrants came to the United States to open an ice cream shop. Then they do various experiments to make ice cream with raw milk. One of the pioneers of ice cream which is famous is Italo Marchiony, which also sells homemade ice cream on Wall Street, in 1903.
Since then, the ice cream is growing, both in terms of shape and taste. One of them is ice cream that was given soda plus syrups, which was first introduced by Robert M. Green, in Philadelphia, which sold for six dollars. That said, Green in a day could sell 100 cups of ice cream soda.
In Britain, the trend of ice cream soda also popular. But the ice cream menu was originally sold only on Sundays. Ice cream soda was later renamed as sundae, in 1843, due to no longer use the soda, but replaced with chocolate syrup. The development of ice cream continues until eight years later, where Jacob Fussell believed to be the owner of an ice cream factory for first in the world. He established the Baltimore, in the United States.
Fussell also pioneering ice cream with fruit flavors, like strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, and raspberries. Modern era of ice cream, where more and more variants of taste and rich starting in 1980′s decade until the 1990s. At that time, appeared some ice cream with new flavors, such as oreo cookies, neapolitan, and chocolate chip. In this era also born chocolate syrup as a topping ice cream which most popular.
Then Ice cream be menu of dishes that cover the most in demand by the world community. United States, New Zealand, Denmark and Australia, are countries where people consume ice cream highest. As for flavors, vanilla ice cream is the most popular ice cream in the world, followed by the taste of chocolate, butter pecan, strawberry, neapolitan, chocolate chip, and oreo cookies.
